Our speaker will be <\/span>Dr. John Ruddiman who will present on Early Moravians in America: Traugott Bagge\u2019s 1783 &#8220;Sketch of the American Revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">John A. Ruddiman is an Associate Professor of History at Wake Forest University. He received his Ph.D. from Yale University. His first book, Becoming Men of Some Consequence: Youth and Military Service in the Revolutionary War (2014), explores the lives of young men in the Continental army. That project has led to essays on &#8216;General Orders&#8217; and orderly books in the Continental Army, George Rogers Clark\u2019s campaign in Illinois, Samuel Shaw\u2019s post-war experiences in China, and Traguott Bagge&#8217;s work as a historian of the Revolution for North Carolina\u2019s Moravians. He is currently at work on his next book \u2013 Is This the Land of Liberty? \u2013 which examines enslaved Black Americans&#8217; changing relationships with soldiers during the War of American Independence.
